Have you had a chance to read our last blog yet? If you have, then you already know how the GAPS Diet could potentially benefit you and about a couple of things that you can do to prepare yourself for starting the GAPS Diet. The GAPS Diet is fairly simple, but that doesn’t mean it will be easy. Luckily, the experts at Holistic Specialists will be here to guide you throughout your journey. As your source for alternative medicine in Miami, we believe in the power of the GAPS Diet, and we want to help you to be successful. That is why we have come up with a few more steps you should take to prepare yourself for the GAPS Diet.
- Stock up on quality food – You will need plenty of protein (chicken, lamb, eggs, beef), animal fats (lamb and beef tallow), veggies (squash, carrots, onions, broccoli, etc), sea salt and raw, local honey. Keep in mind that not all proteins and produce are acceptable for the GAPS Diet so you will need to do some research before you make your grocery lists.
- Ferment your veggies – Fermented foods are a major part of the GAPS Diet, and it can take a couple of weeks for foods to ferment so start early.
- Prepare and freeze – If you have been eating a lot of packaged foods before taking the plunge and starting the GAPS Diet, you should be prepared to spend a lot more time in your kitchen. It takes time to prepare whole, natural foods, but you can cut back on your daily kitchen time by preparing and freezing foods ahead of time.
